Dave Eastgate is truly versatile, with 14 years of professional experience in film, theatre, television, stand-up comedy, live stunt shows, bands, musical theatre, Shakespeare, street performance, education, improvisation and even theme-park characters. As well as a four-year stint performing at Universal Studios Japan in Japanese, David has performed his unique brand of musical-comedy around the world in New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
He returned from five years overseas in Jan 2006 and is currently residing in Brisbane where he wrote scripts for Big Brother's Friday Night Live and returned to the stage with Theatresports. As a stand-up comedian, David placed 2nd in the 2006 National Green Faces Competition in Canberra and was featured at the 2006 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Showcase. David has since begun headlining stand-up shows in Brisbane but his personal highlights would be supporting Arj Barker and Stephen K Amos, sharing the stage and his guitar with Lano and Woodley on a live broadcast for ABC radio and making the third round in Japan's biggest comedy competition, the M-1 Grand Prix.
Film credits include the Chris Nyst feature, "Crooked Business", where he plays a blundering newsagent as well as a number of short films and TV commercials. Dave's biggest talent would be his ability to create characters and his self-devised one man show, "Gaijin" performed in 2007 at the Queensland University of Technology received wide acclaim for it's range of characters, language and accents. "Gaijin", which is loosely based on Dave's time in Japan, will play a season at The Brisbane Powerhouse Theatre in August 2008 and featured at the 2008 Brisbane Festival in May.
