Desh

A seasoned and spiced stand-up comedian, Desh delivers a laconic rendition of satirical observations and hilarious left field opinions; often stepping through a psychological network of human frailties and emotions and poking them with a large pointy stick. Sacred cows never tasted so good – even vegans come back for a second serve.

South African born, Queensland raised and of Indian decent, Desh brings together his unique experiences for his award winning stand up comedy shows. Desh’s audiences are in for a treat with entertainment delivered by a first-class corporate comedian. His experience even extends to having entertained a capacity crowd at Sydney’s ANZ Stadium during the State of Origin!

2002 saw Desh compete in the Raw Comedy competition. His comic timing and smooth delivery proved an irresistible mix as he was judged the clear winner in the Queensland State Final, flying south to compete in the National Final at Melbourne International Comedy Festival. The following year, Desh was also a finalist in the National Green Faces comedy competition.

Since this time, Desh has become a fixture on the Sydney and Brisbane comedy circuit and has developed a variety of skills as a stand up comedian, writer and actor. Desh satirises the experiences and myths that continue to shape and influence his world: Globalisation, Rugby League, Multiculturalism, Cricket, The Environment, Urban Design, Pornography, Love, Relationships, Funk Music and Eating.

Desh has appeared as a regular and popular guest performer on Channel 9’s The NRL Footy Show, Network 10’s Rove Live, Channel 7’s 110% Tony Squires and SBS’s Countdown to Eurovision. He has also featured on The Comedy Channel’s stand-up comedy special Show Us Your Roots.

In addition to his work on television, Desh has regularly contributed to radio as a guest on Triple M’s Tom and Subby Show and SBS’s Radio Alchemy.

He is also the inspiration and brains behind some of the funniest and most side splitting television shows never made or even thought through to a logical conclusion.
