David O’Doherty
David O’Doherty, is not just a comedian but also a flaneur and a former East Leinster under 14 triple jump bronze medallist. Initially aspiring to be a professional cyclist and later a jazz musician, his lack of talent led him to telemarketing.
In 1998, he embarked on his comedy journey, starting pretty successfully, winning the Channel 4 “So You Think You’re Funny?” competition in 1999, before starting his full show, “The Story of the Boy Who Saved Comedy,” receiving a Perrier Best Newcomer nomination. A global performer, he’s taken his comedic prowess to festivals worldwide, from Melbourne to New York.
On the small screen, David has graced shows like Live At The Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and hosted Never Mind The Buzzcocks, whilst also also hosting his own show, Along For The Ride With David O’Doherty.
David is also a successful author. He published his first book, a children’s title called Ronan Long Gets It Wrong, in 2000. His next two books were the “wonderfully daft” (The Big Issue) 100 Facts About Pandas and 100 Facts About Sharks, written in conjunction with Mike Ahern and Claudia O’Doherty. 2014 saw the publication of the first in three-part Danger Is Everywhere series. Its sequel, Danger Is Still Everywhere, was nominated for the Scholastic Laugh Out Loud Book Award 2016.
O’Doherty continues to captivate audiences with his humor and versatility,
