FAQs about The Sit Down Comedy Club
1. Do I have to be 18+ to attend?
Unfortunately due to The Paddo’s liquor licensing restrictions, people must be aged 18 years and over to enter The Sit Down Comedy Club.
2. Where are you located?
We are situated within The Paddo located at 186 Given Terrace, Paddington – a short walk from Caxton St and Suncorp Stadium. Click here for a map.
3. Are the comedians funny?
We only showcase the best local, national and international comedians. Although comedy is subjective, each show features a number of different comedians so there is always someone who will make you laugh! To find out what’s on call us on 07 3369 4466; or go to our Gig Guide.
4. Do I need to book tickets?
Because the Sit Down Comedy Club at The Paddo is the most popular comedy room in Brisbane, we are often very busy. To make sure you don’t miss out it, is always a good idea to give us a call to make a booking (especially for high-profile comedians). Tickets are available for purchase at the door on event night, but only if the show hasn’t already sold out! To find out more on how to book, click here.
5. Do I have to pre-pay my tickets?
Seating isn’t guaranteed until a ticket/s have been paid for in full. We take Mastercard, Visa, EFTPOS, direct deposit or cash at the SDCC Box Office. Please note: all transactions incur booking fees. To find out about the fees, click here.
6. Is it allocated seating?
At the Sit Down Comedy Club we can seat up to 220 people. Each ticket includes a chair at a table, with all seating allocated by SDCC depending on the size of booking groups and the chronological order of bookings. PLEASE NOTE: You may be seated at a table with other booking groups. We try as hard as we can to accommodate all requests, so you can tell us at the time of your initial booking if there’s a particular table or area you would like to sit at/in, however we cannot make guarantees (particularly on busy nights).
7. What time do I need to get there and what time does the show start?
Venue doors usually open 60 mins prior to the advertised event start time. If you are unsure on any information associated with the show (incl. the start time), you can call the SDCC Box Office on 07 3369 4466. For all shows, we ask that you arrive at the venue absolutely no later than half an hour before the advertised show start time.
8. How long does the show go for?
Our regular weekly Thursday, Friday and Saturday night shows usually run for a duration of two (2) to two and a half (2 ½) hours. Most shows are structured in two halves, with a break in the middle for attendees to stretch their legs, duck to the bathroom and/or grab another drink. Occasionally, if the comedian is a high profile act, then the show duration will change.
9. Is there parking?
Limited parking is available at the Paddo Tavern, so it’s best to arrive nice and early to secure your spot! On Suncorp Stadium event days, street parking restrictions apply in the local Lang Park Traffic Area surrounding the Stadium. Fifteen minute parking limits apply in this area from two hours before an event’s ‘Gates Open’ time, through to the conclusion of the event, unless otherwise signed. On-the-spot fines will be issued to offending motorists. The ‘Gates Open’ times for events vary and can be found on the What’s On page on the Suncorp Stadium website.
10. How about public transport?
Buses go regularly from the city (routes 385 & 375) straight past the Sit Down Comedy Club at The Paddo. 12. Is there a bar and/or can I get something to eat during the show?
Our fabulous venue partner The Paddo looks after all food and beverage service in the club on show nights; with food and drinks available in the club both before and during most shows. For shows with a duration of 90mins or more, an a-la-carte menu is available to order from. 2 and 3 course dinner packages (min. group of 10 people) are also available if ordered ten (10) or more days prior to the show. Click here for more information on all our fabulous food options. The club space itself does close at the conclusion of the show, however you can continue to party on upstairs in The Paddo until the wee hours of the morning, with live music, pool tables and a great beer garden to relax in! PLEASE NOTE: While you are able to purchase beverages from the bar throughout every show at SDCC, food is not available for purchase during shows with a duration of 60mins or less.
